Position Summary
Assists in smooth daily operations of the Labor and Delivery, Recovery and Postpartum unit. Assists with vaginal deliveries under the direction of a Registered Nurse and provider and within scope of practice. Functions as a Scrub Tech for surgical procedures. Maintains supplies and equipment on the unit. Assists with maintenance of Point of Care Testing and High Level Disinfection equipment. Performs clerical and business support tasks as assigned. Assumes personal accountability for organizational mission and core values.
Minimum Education Requirements
High School graduate or GED
Completion of a Surgical Tech program
Minimum Experience Requirements
One:year patient care experience preferred
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English Basic computer skills
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association
Current Colorado Surgical Technologist Registration for associates working in Colorado
Certification in Surgical Technology from the National Board Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or
Certification as a Tech in Surgery from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
The CST will work in the operating room environment as well as on the labor and delivery unit serving as a technician to facilitate successful labor and delivery regardless of location. The CST will be responsible for OR set up as well as set up of sterile fields/tables in labor and delivery and assuring appropriate stocking of supplies in labor and delivery and OR. The CST will also be responsible for point of care testing within labor and delivery and OR.
Heavy Work : exert/lift up to 100 lbs. force occasionally, and/or 50 lbs. frequently, and/or 20 lbs. constantly.
