IP and Data Path Engineer
Colorado Springs, CO
The IP and Data Path Engineer plays a critical role in the design, planning, implementation, documentation and troubleshooting of a large commercial network. As the IP and Data Path Engineer, you will design, plan, implement, document and troubleshoot the core and access networks as they relate to application data flow and interoperability, with particular emphasis on end to end application delivery, IP address management, infrastructure and application monitoring, and the application of new technologies.
The essential functions of this position include but are not limited to:
Create and maintain data path documentation relating to application and service delivery.
Maintain IPAM for current and future network scalability.
Operate as SME on interconnected diverse systems in the environment. (Windows (All versions), VMware, OS400, Linux, MPE/IX).
Maintain current and establish functional monitoring capabilities across all IT infrastructure to include network, server, application, and end user services.
Provide architectural insight into projects and maintenance activity for change approval processes.
Serve as escalation point for system, network, and infrastructure outages as they relate to application and service delivery.
Monitor network including servers for performance, reliability and security risks.
Recommend, deploy, and monitor security software.
Recommend and install disaster recovery strategies.
Punctual, regular, and reliable attendance is essential for successful job performance.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities As Appropriate for Position:
Knowledge of network technology theory, principles and practices.
Knowledge of local and wide area network systems.
Knowledge of client/server network protocols and Internet/Intranet applications.
Knowledge of virtualization architecture and storage platforms.
Strong working and troubleshooting knowledge of routing protocols.
Experience with switching technologies/ concepts x2010; like STP, VLANs, VTP, VDCs
Experience in implementing, configuring, and supporting complex IT infrastructure, including WAN circuits, virtualization, Internet connectivity, cloud services, and application delivery.
Ability to write clear and concise documentation of systems and procedures.
Ability to read, understand and apply information from technical manuals.
Ability to plan, organize, meet schedules and time lines for assigned work.

Demonstrated engineering experience on large scale/enterprise level core backbone and application delivery infrastructure.
Any combination of experience and education which would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered.
Certification and/or experience working in an ITIL or IT Service Management environment preferred.
Advanced Cisco certifications (CCNP/CCIE) are highly desirable but not required.
Four years of progressively responsible experience with network systems, telecommunication systems and data management.
Four year college degree in computer science, computer engineering or closely related field and two years experience in project leadership and/or supervisory experience is required.
