A laboratory position responsible for performing waived to moderate complexity testing as defined by CLIA regulations and laboratory policy. Works under the direct supervision of a Medical Technologist, Medical Laboratory Technician, or ED Leadership. May perform phlebotomy duties as required.
Minimum Education Requirements
:High School Diploma or GED required
Minimum Experience Requirements
:Previous clinical laboratory experience preferred
:Phlebotomy certification preferred

ANALYTIC: TESTING AND RESULT REPORTING
:Maintains a safe and clean working environment.*
:Follows laboratory, hospital, and regulatory agencies policies, procedures, and guidelines.*
:Under the direct supervision of a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Technician:
:Performs waived and moderate complexity testing as defined by CLIA guidelines and laboratory Medical Testing Associate Guidelines policy.*
:Performs job duties in an efficient and organized manner within required timeframe.*
:Demonstrates knowledge and competency of laboratory computer systems.*
:Responsible for accurate and timely result reporting, including communication and documentation of critical results.*
:Demonstrates basic problem resolution and decision making skills. Correlates and interprets data. Refers complex problems to MT and MLT.*
:Compiles and reviews LIS reports to ensure all samples are collected, processed, and tested in appropriate timeframe.*
:Assists with resolution of unusual test orders by following up with care giver, reference lab, pathology, referring to lab leadership when appropriate.*
:Participates in shift to shift communication to ensure continuity of laboratory operations and patient care.*
:Actively participates in new associate and student training and orientation.*
:May be assigned lead responsibilities in various disciplines within scope of MTA testing guidelines.
:Participates in inspections.*
:May be required to participate in laboratory and/or hospital projects, teams, or committees.
:Attends department, laboratory, and hospital meetings and forums.*
INSTRUMENTATION, MAINTENANCE, AND QUALITY:
:Performs analyzer operation, minor maintenance for which there are clear guidelines and protocols, and limited troubleshooting.*
:Completes required QC and maintenance, consistently recognizing variances, documenting appropriate corrective action.*
:Participates in detecting and documenting occurrences that deviate from defined procedures.*
:Performs venous, capillary, urine drug screen, swab, or other specimen collection as defined by site.*
:Ensures quality collection of specimens including appropriate sample container, sample volume, collection priority and sample identification.*
:Provides accurate collection information to care givers and patients.*
