Fabrication of sheet metal and machined parts for design validation, working closely with R and D to influence designs for mechanical components and assemblies, ensure design for manufacturability, facilitate release and support production.
Uses machine tools to make or modify parts that conform to specifications and/or tolerances. Working from blueprints, process sheets, sketches and Engineering specifications, determines assignment plan, layout, sequence of operations, and necessary tool adjustments required for operating and programming various types of manual and computerized machine shop equipment. Performs production, prototyping and/or new product introduction tasks which may include: cutting and shaping of metal to precision dimensions, conventional and CNC milling, turning, grinding and fixture design. Conducts in:process inspection of machined parts against specified tolerances. May communicate directly with engineers to understand the purpose of a part assembly.

Able to develop parts from rough ideas and concepts to 3D models and prints.
Familiar with molds and precision fabrication, acute knowledge of methods to create accurate, cost effective tools.
Operate cut:off saws, band saws, table saws.
Proficiency with manual milling and turning operations.
Proficiency with CNC mill/lathe set:up and operations.
Able to hold close tolerances; attention to detail is imperative.
Experience with precision grinding, EDM operations (wire and sinker).
Familiar with set up and operation of various brakes, shears, punches and various fabrication techniques.
Able to work with very small, intricate parts (on both machined and sheet metal applications).
Experience with water jet programming, set up and operation
Strong CAD knowledge/experience (direct CoCreate experience a plus).
Proficient CAM skills and 3D machining. (MasterCam preferred)
Knowledgeable in material properties (ferrous and non:ferrous metals, plastics), heat treating
TIG welding (aluminum and steel)
Basic knowledge of electronics, pneumatics, hydraulics; able to perform basic machinery maintenance and troubleshooting.
Organized, actively maintain clean, safe work environment
Self:motivated and able to manage time, able to multitask.
